2. In a previous assignment, you wrote an introduction article in the “F” pattern. Based on what we discussed in class and based on the feedback provided in class, write a new introductory “content” incorporating “plain English writing for the web” in the “F” pattern including visuals. You are to include your “revised version” (if the version you submitted was not in the F-Pattern). Ensure that it addresses the three main objectives of plain English writing. As a reminder, this is an introductory post for your business. Ensure you list it in your hardcopy. (12 Marks)
I did not change my introduction because I wrote it with the F-pattern in mind from the beginning.
Writing in an F-pattern is good because it is how people read online. They do not read every word. They scan the content in an F-shaped pattern. They start at the top, then move down a bit, scan across, and then scan down the side.
Because of this, structuring content in an F-pattern makes it easy for readers to find the information. The important points are at the top and on the side, where users look first. Headings, short paragraphs, and keywords help the reader’s eye. Make the content more readable.
Compared to a block of text, the F-pattern:
- Makes it easier for the brain to understand the information
- Makes the content easier to scan and understand quickly
- Make sure the important information is seen, even if users do not read everything
This approaches like plain English writing because it prioritizes clarity, accessibility and user experience. It helps make sure that readers can quickly understand what your business does, why it matters, and what to do next. They do not have to search through a lot of text to find this information. English writing and the F-pattern make things easy and clear for the reader.
